Malting Other Grains

Glenbar Malting have been the first malting plant in Australia to malt Sorghum for the gluten free market. This has taken over 12 months to perfect with many trials conducted.

Glenbar Malting are involved with two independant Companies, O'Brien Brewing & Sillyaks Brewing Company. By using sorghum malted by Glenbar Malting, these Companies now have a gluten free beer out in the market and demand has been amazing.

Malting exotic grains such as sorghum is more complex than barley and as a result of sillyaks foods input, the Glenbar malting plant has now installed;

  • Filtration system of water and UV light to kill water bacteria.
  • Computer controlled automatic heating of water and temperature controlled monitoring system.
  • CO2 Silo system to control weavels.
